Buddy Grant

The Northwest Iowa Down Syndrome Society appreciates special education teachers and wants to partner with those special teachers who make a difference in their classrooms every day.  We are pleased to offer Buddy Grants to special education teachers in the Prairie Lakes AEA area that need financial assistance to finance a project or purchase an item(s) for their classroom.


Grant Information

  • The teacher will be awarded up to $500.

  • The application must be completely filled out.

  • Teachers will be notified by March 18th via email if you have or have not received the award.

  • The teacher will agree to come to the next annual Buddy Walk if possible to be recognized. (Next Buddy Walk will be at Arnold’s Park, date: TBA).

  • The teacher will provide pictures of item(s) and yourself/students using the item(s) (if have permission) and share those with the NWIDSS for our group to use for advertising, or placement on our website and/or Facebook page by June 15th 2019.

Criteria to Apply

  • Deadline to apply for the grant will be February 25th 2019.

  • Must be a special education teacher currently working in any Prairie Lakes AEA area school.

  • The teacher may not have received this grant in the previous years.

  • Funds provided must be used before the end of the school year

  • The teacher must fill out the application and provide all criteria to be selected.
