Buddy Scholarship
The Northwest Iowa Down Syndrome Society would like to offer 1 scholarship for a graduating senior and 1 scholarship for a current college student to pursue a career in special education, physical therapy, occupational therapy, or speech therapy. The NWIDSS recognizes the importance of special education teachers, PT, OT and ST in our schools and is excited to offer this opportunity.
Scholarship Amount: $500 Application Deadline: April 15th*********
Required Qualifications
Must live in and attend a school in the Prairie Lakes AEA region. if in college, home address should be in the Prairie Lakes region.
Must graduate this school year if a senior, or must be enrolled in a college program if post high-school.
Cumulative GPA must be 3.0 or higher.
Must be accepted to a college or in college and planning to pursue a career in special education, physical therapy, occupational therapy, or speech therapy. Applicant must include in their essay how they will serve the special needs population.
Recipient should plan to attend our Annual Buddy Walk at date and location: TBA
Required Documentation
In addition to completing the online application below, the following items need to be emailed to nwiadownsyndromesociety@gmail.com:
Your high school transcript if a high school senior, college transcript if enrolled in college.
A letter of acceptance from the college or university you will be attending (if in college, transcript is okay).
